Bold New Moves

What happens when you start as friends? It's said that if you're friends first you'll be lovers for a lifetime.  Do you remember those initial flutter? That churning in your gut feeling, afraid the other person just isn't into you the same way?

Bold New Moves

I can’t do this.  I’m terrified, worried sick, my lungs are on fire, I can barely breathe. I watch as my hands shake and tremor, barely able to light my cigarette, the flickering flame blurring and sputtering into the wind. I keep swearing and my roll-up flutters to the floor and I almost fall scrabbling for it. The concrete cool against my skin contrasting against the blinding white pain flaring through my body as I crack my head on the table.

I hear an amused chuckle and I catch in the reflection on the steel table a look that makes my stomach do backflips, a smile so blinding it radiates through me. “BOLLOCKS” my mind screams as I realize my crush is, as always early. She smiles and flicks open a lighter she carries because I, her best friend smoke and effortlessly lights my dogeared scrag end scrounged from the floor.  For me as she orders my favorite drink from memory. I take a slow drag and start to calm though my heart is pounding, throbbing, the noise of my body echoing through my chest, over the buzzing of the air-con, over the crap bar music, even almost managing to cover up her voice.  She’s gorgeous!

I tear open the bag of crisps for us to pick at and blush, purring inwardly at each fleeting touch. We are talking about everything and nothing. I barely remember anything and yet… Yet I know her as she knows me; hopes, dreams, fears music taste, clothes and everything that makes us, well us.

And yet, she doesn’t know, she can’t know what my body and mind screams, what I desire and lust for, what I need and desire, what I am begging for each night in my single bed alone.

I mumble and blush and she asks me to speak up.  It takes me about half an hour or so it seems, the sweat pooling in my shirt as I finally get the courage to potentially destroy my relationship with my best friend. She pauses coughing in shock her eyes wide, as her heart pounds and I can see into her eyes she isn’t interested, I’m sure. I stutter blushing, grovelling my apologies. “I guess I better go.” I stand to leave pushing my chair into the table and turning away biting my lip to hold the tears a little, I move to walk away and I start heading to the door.

I’m outside swearing inside my head that I’ve blown it, starting the bike with a kick-start. Because I can vent my anger the bastard thing starts after three kicks, the engine roaring up into life, muffling my anger in smoke and sound.

As I swing my leg over the bike I hear the pannier unbuckling and I turn my head to see her slipping the helmet I bought for her use on.  She’s in her leather jacket and has her gloves on as normal. I heard the crackle of the intercom as the bike dropped slightly, her body pressed into mine. “Take me home, to our bed. Please, please tell me this is real. I couldn’t bear it if you were joking.”

My heart leaps, pounding as I opened the throttle and grinned. “My bunny.  Let’s go home.” I didn’t need the headset to hear the whoop of joy at my answer before she giggled as the bike powered through the tunnel, the front wheel flicked up with a dab of the clutch,  hearing that giggle that stopped my heart every time and feeling the familiar squeezing of her sliding her hand round my waist. I blushed, losing myself into joy and love as her hand slipped far lower than it ever had before, promising so much more than before, my world becoming so much more; more intense, more beautiful.

Dancing

By: Sian Young

As I stand on the rooftop of my building, I hear the phantom music that used to play for my love and I.
A beautiful melody, he made just for me of him singing a love song.
He would play this song every time we got into a fight, he knew I couldn’t resist his voice, his words, our song.
It never failed to put a smile on my face, and a spring in his step.
For he knew that no matter what he did, I’d forgive him as soon as I heard that stupid song.
But, not this time, this time I cannot bare to hear the song that once brought me so much happiness.
Now, all it brings is heartache and pain, how could you do this? How could hurt me this way?
What happened, I thought we were perfect, so much in love I thought it’d never end.
That we’d spend eternity circling each other in an endless waltz, forever in one another’s arms and hearts.
But, it was all a lie, your gone and I’m all alone, forever to hear the phantom song we once knew and loved.
As I wipe away stray tears, I wonder why you did it, why you left me so suddenly and never said goodbye!
I thought I meant something to you, you meant an awful lot to me, but I guess all the nights we spent up here dancing under the stars, was a waste of time and just filler to you.
As you waited for your chance to leave me, me and all our love and memories.
As I climb onto the ledge and look down on the crowded street below, I wonder if I’ll ever see you again.
Maybe someday we’ll be together again, as I cry over our lost love and memories, I hear our song once more, and smile as I step off the ledge, my last thoughts of you and our life together.
As I lay on the ground below, clutching a newspaper clipping in my hand, I see a bright light and hear a familiar voice, telling me it’ll be alright and not to be afraid.
I close my eyes, and when I reopen them I’m standing over my body, all frail and broken.
I hear the voice again and turn to see my love, he has come for me at last. He takes my hand and leads me away, telling me, that I’ll have no more pain, no more heartache, and we can truly be together forever.
The newspaper clipping rustles as the wind blows, it reads, “Young man dies in fatal car crash, aged 26.” just before the wind blows it away, and in the distance you can hear two lovers hearts singing as one, once more.

Thundering Love: Part Two

Thundering Love
Part: 2

(For Madison Johns,
who HAD to know
what happened next.)

By: Sian Young

I had my head on his chest feeling it go up and down as he slowly breathed. He was fast asleep and had been for a few hours. We'd stayed up until the storm had finally broken at around 4am, talking about each other. How long we'd known, when we figured out we were in love and how happy we were to finally tell each other. As much as I loved sitting here listening to him breath I had to get up and write everything down in my journal before I exploded from it all.
"Best night...ever..." I whispered and got out of bed slowly as to not disturb him, I grabbed my bag which had my notebooks, journal and laptop all in it, and headed downstairs, maybe I could watch the sunrise, and Andrew did say they were beautiful here.
"Ah, blissful silence...it's so beautiful and quiet up here. Hard to believe I wanted to go home last night, now I don't want to leave." I said to the empty house, I sat down on my favorite chair that hung from the ceiling and had no legs, I pulled out my journal and opened it to last night's passage I'd started before I'd gone to bed, I smiled at it and turned the page to today.
I must of gotten so into what I was writing, because before I knew it the sun was up and shinning and my legs were screaming at me to move.
"Ok, ok, I get the message. Maybe I'll make Andrew breakfast in bed...or at least breakfast anyways..." I closed my journal and put it back into my purse, I got up slowly as to test my legs and back, last time I got up quickly I collapsed...Andrew had laughed for hours, at least he did until I tripped him and he fell over.

I walked into the kitchen fully dressed having just left the bathroom, Andrew had left it in such a mess I had to clean the whole thing before I could use it.
"Ok breakfast...let's see what we have." I rummaged through the cabinets, but not much was here, I wasn't the Chef Andrew was, so the most I could do is cereal.
"...I'll let Andrew do the breakfast..." I grabbed a can of pop from the fridge and went back into the living room to continue writing. I slowed to a stop as I reached the living room table as my purse was on top of it, I could of sworn I had left it under the chair. There was nothing missing...maybe I'm more tired than I thought.
"Losing it girl...losing it." I grabbed my purse and headed back to my chair, when I heard a creak in the floorboards, I paused and listened but heard nothing. I shook my head and sat in my chair and got all comfy when I heard the creak again.
"...It's an old log cabin...it probably creaks and groans a lot...yeah." I got out of my chair and grabbed the baseball bat and snuck slowly towards the sounds, once I'd reached it I jumped around the corner and yelled like a mad woman.
"Don't bash my brains in!" Andrew yelled his arms in the air, I sighed and dropped the bat, that'd be twice in two days I'd almost beat him up.
"Andrew...must you sneak up on me?" I sighed and leaned against the wall, he smiled and walked over to me, even though we'd said our 'love you' bits, I was still very nervous around him.
"I woke up and you were gone, where'd you go?" He smiled and got real close to me, I mean I loved him and all but I was so shy and nervous I could barely get out a coherent word.
"You're so cute when you're shy and nervous you know that?" He smiled and leaned in to kiss me; my heart jumped into my chest at the mere thought of it, but before our lips could meet there was a crash from the kitchen.
"...What was that?" I ducked my head out of the way of his and looked towards the kitchen; I knew for one thing it wasn't Andrew.
"...I don't know..." He bent down and picked up the baseball bat and moved slowly towards the kitchen. I followed behind him slowly, why I was hiding behind him? I didn't know as I could beat up 5 guys on my own...it's a girl thing.
"...Maybe it's the cat..." I said, the fact that we didn't have a cat didn't matter, I just hoped it wasn't what I thought it was.
"Wait here..." Andrew whispered to me, he stepped towards the kitchen when I grabbed his hand and pulled him around and down to me and gave him a fast but passionate kiss, he looked at me a little breathless.
"For luck..." I whispered breathless, he smiled and turned back to the kitchen he slowly crept up to it, I watched him take a deep breath and charge in, then it got quiet until I heard a loud bang and someone groan and crash to the floor.
"...Andrew...Andrew...ANDREW!" I screamed and ran into the kitchen.

What happens next?! You'll have to wait until next week to find out! Muahaha!!!! :-P
